Hello, readers! I know it's been slow around here lately, but after the nearly two week stretch of steady reviews in late August/early September, I was kind of burned out. However, I wanted to take a moment to point out some interesting tidbits on two of my favorite action figure lines.
First up, there's plenty of great news and details from Mattel's WWE design team via their most recent Q&A session over at WrestlingFigs.com. They clear up some of the confusion with the 2012 WWE Legends line and integrating classic looks and Superstars into the Elite Collection. Definitely worth the read WWE fans!
Secondly, Mattel announced via their MattyCollector.com and corresponding Facebook page that the 2012 Club Ecto-1 Ghostbusters subscription has been cancelled due to low numbers. I know I ranted about the subs a couple of months back, but I did end up signing up for Club Ecto-1 along with Club Lion Force, so I'm a bit bummed about it. The cool thing is that all the previously announced figures will still be produced, including The Rookie, but you'll have to shell out $22 per figure (just like the rest of Matty's exclusive, non-sub figures in 2012). I definitely want lab coat Peter (I already have the other two "Ready to Believe You" figures) and if I can score Vinz Clortho next month, I will certainly add Dana as Zuul, but I can live without the Rookie. I hope the unannounced Fall figure is someone really cool!
Taking that into consideration and the fact that Metron will be the club exclusive, I'm signing up for Club Infinite Earths this week. I'm not a fan of most of the "DCnU" relaunch, so I'll have to get my DC fix from somewhere besides retail. I don't care much for the 4H's Atrocitus, but Jay Garrick, Poison Ivy and Metron? Hell yes! And with the promise of three more over-sized figures, I'm crossing my fingers for a great version of Doomsday!
