League of Extraordinary Bloggers: "My Work Number is 911!"

I'm jumping back in the LoEB with this week's assignment:

"Television executives have determined that you lead an amazing life and have pegged you as the next big reality TV star. What’s the name and the premise of your show?"

I considered skipping this topic, but since I was unable to write last week, decided I'll go for it. I don't particularly like to talk about my day job because it usually raises annoying questions and I prefer to leave work at work. However, since there have already been several TV shows about my profession, I figured this would be easy.

My show would be called: My Work Number is 9-1-1!

When not blogging and playing with toys, I'm a 911 operator for a major metropolitan police department in South Florida. For those of you who remember Rescue 911, it's pretty much like that, on the phone, but without William Shatner. I can assure you it's a highly stressful job and very demanding, however it's not all deaths and disturbances. In fact, a large percentage of calls deal with mundane matters, but a few times a day you get calls like these:

Oh, and the one about the lady who was "locked" inside her car... Yeah, that actually does happen. So the show would focus on those zany calls. It would be light-hearted and comical, a stark contrast to the real emergencies we handle.

Other than that, I don't know what kind of show I'd be the star of. I don't go to flea markets or conventions, so no Toy Hunter-esque show for me. Nope. When I'm home I'm either playing daddy to my 4-year-old daughter, the good boyfriend to my live-in girlfriend or shopping for toys and collectibles online and at my local stores.

It would have to air on Court TV because "it's not reality. It's ACTUAL-ity!"... or Comedy Central. And there you have it!

From around the League!
And here I thought Monster Cafe was just a great name for a blog!

I intentionally avoid those penny machines because I would HAVE to collect them all! Not a problem for the master of the Dork Horde!

Green Plastic Squirt Gun breaks it down with pics!

Talking animals AND toys?! I'd tune into Priordial Badger's Media Hoard's show!

Cool and Collected's show has an infinite amount of possibilities!
